The Greater Bernard Lodge Development Master Plan is a long-term plan to accommodate future population growth in the Kingston Metropolitan region and create a sustainable integrated township.
What is the Bernard Lodge Development?
- The development spans a total of 5,397.02 acres of land in Bernard Lodge, St. Catherine. 3,027 acres will be dedicated to agriculture and the remaining acreage will be divided between residential, commercial, light-industrial, mixed-use and social services facilities.
- The development will create a vibrant and sustainable community that addresses the challenges of affordable housing, transportation and access to jobs and services.

Agriculture

Agricultural leases will be increased from 171 to 235 for the rearing of livestock, the cultivation of cash crops, orchard crops, horticulture, cannabis, castor beans and many more.

A new agricultural subdivision of 1,330 acres, to be renamed Bernard Lodge South, will be created.

Rental concessions will be given to relocated farmers for the first year to help with the process of re-establishment.

Farmers will gain access to state-of-the-art irrigation systems, farming technology /equipment, and Mother Farm services.
Infrastructure

There will be a $1 billion upgrade of water infrastructure. This project will include well rehabilitation, construction of new pump stations, reshaping and relining of canals, installation of new underground piping, hydrants, and road drainage rehabilitation.

106 lessee farmers and 55 informal settlers will be relocated and granted new, formal leases. All farmers will be compensated for existing crops.
